Upstream Corporate Secretarial Limited (UCSL) did not stumble into the ESG space; we engineered our way here.

Our journey began as a professional corporate services firm that also proudly operates as a Social Enterprise itself, actively employing dedicated staff with disabilities. Initially, our core mandate was guiding Hong Kong clients through the complex legal and regulatory pathways to formally establish Social Enterprises (SEs) and Section 88 (S88) tax-exempt charities.

However, we quickly identified a critical structural flaw in the traditional social sector: an over-reliance on "NGO DNA" that often struggles with commercial survival. To prevent social initiatives from falling into the trap of continuous reliance on government subsidies and unpredictable donor altruism, we evolved.

Upstream shifted gears to focus intensely on incubating commercial SMEs and experienced business owners, transitioning them into "Entrepreneurial DNA" Social Enterprises. Rather than merely restructuring traditional non-profits, we teach commercial entrepreneurs how to leverage their existing business acumen to build profitable, impact-driven companies. We aggressively train these business-led SEs to repackage their standard products and services into premium offerings tailored specifically for corporate B2B procurement.

As these Entrepreneur-DNA SEs achieved true commercial competitiveness, Upstream began actively bridging the gap to the corporate world. We took these highly structured Social Return on Investment (SROI) projects and pitched them directly to Hong Kong listed companies. After successfully facilitating and executing numerous corporate events, our mandate expanded: we set out to systematically drive massive corporate procurement budgets into the SE sector by creating a curated marketplace of compliant ESG projects.
